Bodies found on Snohomish County trail BY CASEY MCNERTHNEY, SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF | July 19, 2011 Two people were found dead Tuesday morning on the Mountain Loop Highway, and sheriff's deputies are investigating. Campers found the bodies at Red Bridge, about 10 miles east of Granite Falls, but police are not looking any suspects, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover told our news partner, KOMO/4. It was not clear of the relationship between the man and woman found dead. The Red Bridge, 160 feet long, spans the South Fork Stillaguamish River, and croses between Silverton and Verlot. Built in 1954, it's in place of where a railroad bridge had been. The bodies were found miles from where Mary Cooper, 56, and her daughter Susanna Stodden, 27, were killed on a trail in 2006, though police have not linked that case to the remains found Tuesday morning. Cooper and Stodden were shot to death on the Pinnacle Lake Trail in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Fores

Finding Marizela: The Dread Void of Uncertainty; UPDATE: Marizela is still missing, questions unanswered Share By Michelle Malkin  •  October 24, 2011 03:46 AM Update: 7:57pm Eastern…Just received word…no match between Marizela’s records and the unidentified remains in Morton…questions about bureaucratic lapses still unresolved…see more below This is a sketch released by Lewis County, Washington authorities last week. It is a reconstruction of the facial features of skeletal human remains found on a logging road in April outside of Morton, WA. The small town is located about two hours south of Seattle. The remains are believed to be of a young woman of “small stature,” “possible mixed ethnicity,” and estimated to be in her 20s or 30s. It has haunted me the past four nights as I toggle back and forth obsessively between the artist’s rendering and the vivid, flesh-and-blood photos of my missing cousin, Marizela. Seven months of searching and not finding. Seven months of praying a

Kieth andersons remains found

June 29, 2012 The Anacortes Police Department announced Friday that a hiker found remains of Keith Anderson, a former Anacortes High School counselor who has been missing for more than two years. According to a press release, a hiker reported finding human remains on Saturday, June 23 in a remote area northwest of Darrington. King County Sheriff's Deputies used cadaver dogs to search the area and recovered enough remains for identification. The King County Medical Examiner's Office identified the remains as Anderson. A family member was notified last week. Anderson's family called Anacortes Police Jan. 7, 2010, after he had not returned from a trip to Snohomish County the day before to meet an acquaintance. Family members say Anderson was meeting the acquaintance to buy oxycontin, a powerful prescription painkiller. They say he originally took the drug after surgery and got addicted. His abandoned truck was found in late January 2010 on a remote logging road about 20 mi

A real frog-choker, as they say around the Oso fire hall. By March 22, the sky already had dumped 17 inches on Circle B Ranch where Willy Harper works keeping things running. For a few days, folks about town saw water spewing from the bulkhead holding back Skaglund Hill, a place notorious for mudslides across Highway 530. Harper, 37, Oso’s volunteer fire chief, got the call around 10:45 a.m. Mud had blanketed a stretch of the rural highway. It came as no surprise on a slow, soggy Saturday in the quiet river valley. Harper has lived in Oso1 for 30 years. He’s seen plenty of little slides, so he threw a few orange traffic cones into his Suburban, drove past the empty fire hall and headed four mile
